Ekklesia Maui is a community of believers that evolved in 2024 from The Maui Movement collective of house churches. In 2020, God called us to surrender the familiar model of church services on every Sunday morning, and instead begin to gather with each other for worship, prayer, teaching, and fellowship in our homes. We formed individual home churches, and continued to gather corporately once a month.
In early 2024, we brought all of our individual home churches together to form Ekklesia Maui; a united church that holds gatherings for worship, prayer, and fellowship in various homes throughout the week and gatherings every other weekend for corporate worship and the teaching of scripture.
Our church is built upon the example set by the early church, specifically the believers in Jerusalem who met together daily in their homes to break bread, fellowship, and worship. We place a high emphasis on authentic community and providing a place of belonging for those both inside and outside the body of Jesus who need support, love, grace, and truth.
Nothing is more important to us than the gospel message of Jesus and the real and powerful experience of God’s mercy and grace, and seeing our island community of Maui be transformed by his saving power.
Ekklesia doesn’t have a church building. We gather in all the places that we live our daily lives, because we believe that every time the believers of Jesus are gathered that we are having “church”. We gather regularly for fellowship, worship, prayer, and teaching of the Scriptures in homes, warehouses, churches, beaches, parks…and anywhere the Lord opens for us to assemble! Our gatherings change all the time, so check out our calender to find what’s coming up!
